The Music of Hildegard von Bingen
The 12th-century German abbess is well known as a religious leader, poet and visionary, naturalist and writer of medical treatises. She was also a pre-eminent medieval composer. In this course we explore several of her works, including the Chants for the Feast of St Ursula, sequences, hymns and the religious musical drama Ordo Virtutum.
